Islamabad: The government has approved a development outlay worth PKR 1.837 trillion for the fiscal year 2019-2020, according to a news report. The budget announcement is scheduled to take place on June 11.
With this approval, the government is aiming for an economic growth rate of four-percent for the coming fiscal year. A senior official revealed that this rate figure had been set due to the previous year’s recorded growth not meeting its 6.2% target. He also added that this rate keeps in consideration the three-year stabilisation programme supervised by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The Planning Minister stated that out of the year’s total PKR 1.837 trillion outlay, PKR 912 billion would be allocated for provincial development programmes. He added that next year’s Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) would prioritise climate change, water scarcity, energy transmission, agriculture, healthcare, knowledge economy, regional equalisation development, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
