Islamabad: The government has shared the details on over 160 road projects that will be included in the upcoming fiscal budget (FY 2023-24), to be released on June 9, a news source reported on June 7.

As per the details, the government approves over 160 road projects to be included in the budget. The Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives has submitted a summary to the National Economic Council (NEC) requesting funds for several road projects in the upcoming fiscal year.
The ministry has proposed a budget for over 160 road projects, encompassing both new initiatives and ongoing ones. The following are the details of the budget:
- The total approved cost for all National Highway Authority (NHA) projects is approximately PKR 2,881 billion.
- The total foreign aid allocated for these projects, roughly, amounts to PKR 459 billion.
- The proposed amount for allocation in FY 2023-24 is approximately PKR 161 billion.
- The proposed foreign aid for allocation in FY 2023-24 is approximately PKR 13 billion.
The road projects involve construction, rehabilitation, and feasibility studies of various initiatives. Here are some of the major projects out of the 160 proposed:

- Dualization of the 28.4-kilometre-long Rawalpindi-Kahuta Road including a 4-lane bridge over Sihala Railway Pass, Sihala Bypass, Kahuta Bypass, and land acquisition
- Construction of 101.41-kilometre-long Lahore-Sialkot Motorway Link (4-lane) via Narang Mandi to Narowal
- 23-kilometre-long Quetta Western Bypass
- Construction of an 18.3-kilometre-long 6-lane Highway, from Kala Shah Kaku to Lahore Ring Road over River Ravi (Lahore Eastern Bypass)
- Construction of 184-kilometre-long Faisalabad-Khanewal Motorway (M-4)
- Construction of Infrastructure and Allied works for Metro Bus Services from Peshawar Morr to New International Airport
- Karachi-Lahore Motorway Land Acquisition at Lahore-Abdul Hakeem, Multan-Sukkur, Sukkur-Hyderabad, Lahore-Multan Motorway (M-3) section of the Karachi-Lahore Motorway
- Land acquisition and resettlement for China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) – Islamabad-Raikot Section (Phase-I), Havelian-Thakot
