Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah has established a nine-member governing body to oversee the affairs of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), according to a news source published on August 26.

Additionally, the chief secretary has also issued a notification that the newly-formed governing body will supervise the operations of the SBCA and will monitor the approvals granted to the high rise buildings. Moreover, it will also ensure transparent utilisation of funding released for parks, playgrounds and housing societies. The chairman of Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) will head the governing body and the SBCA director general will act as the secretary.

Furthermore, it was also decided that the body will offer recommendations for the preservation of the historically-significant buildings and structures. Under the SBCA, the governing body will also review the regulations and policies of the building authority.
