Rawalpindi: The governing body of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Friday approved the authority’s annual budget worth PKR 3.520 billion – along with a seperate budgetary allocation of PKR 2.059 billion for the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) – for (Fiscal Year) FY2020-21, according to news sources.

The budget was approved in the 48th meeting of the governing body – which was presided over by RDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza – and was presented by RDA Director General (DG) Amara Khan. The budget outlay includes funds of worth PKR 2.395 billion to be utilised for the development work.

Moreover, the meeting approved PKR 2.59 million deficit budget for WASA. The proposal for WASA’s budget was presented by its Managing Director (MD) Raja Shaukat Mehmood. The agency expects total income of PKR 1.589 billion and expenditures are estimated at PKR 3.649 billion. The major chunk of expenditures amount was allocated for the enhancement of the water network, sewerage lines and power bills.
Murtaza said that the authority will offer maximum facilities to provide relief to the residents of the city. He revealed that the governing body will meet every month to review the policy matters and resolve any public grievances.
