Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan has decided to set up the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority, reported a news source.
In this regard, the Central Working Development Party has also approved the merging of the CPEC Secretariat and the CPEC Authority. As per the CPEC Secretariat Terms of Reference, the secretariat will conduct research and prepare policies in consultation with think-tanks and local and international firms.

The government is likely to finalise the appointment of CPEC Authority’s Project Director soon, who will be 22 grade office. The Project Director will supervise the policy and operational matters. While the decision regarding the project head has already been taken; Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar will head the CPEC Authority.
In addition to the abovementioned facts, the government has also approved the merger of CPEC Centre of Excellency and CPEC Project.
