Lahore: The Golen Gol hydropower project has begun electricity generation, according to a news report. As a result, Chitral has now started receiving electricity on trial basis. The installed generation capacity of the project is 108 megawatts and the surplus from this will be added to the national grid. The project will provide 436 million units of electricity every year to the national grid and it has been estimated that the benefits of the project will be as high as PKR 3.7 billion per annum.
