FM Qureshi appreciated the Canadian government’s efforts in handling the coronavirus pandemic. He also thanked Minister Gould for Canada’s assistance to Pakistan, and emphasised the importance of continued cooperation. At the same time, he also welcomed Canada’s role in the growth of Pakistan’s development sector.
The FM also took the opportunity to discuss Prime Minister Imran Khan’s call for global debt relief, particularly for developing countries. He urged Canada to play a part in helping the initiative succeed using its status as a member of G-7 and G-20 nations — with the initiative aimed at helping mobilise resources in the fight against COVID-19, and to help the entire world recover from the ongoing pandemic situation.
