Frankfurt: International buyers at the Heimtextil 2020 in Frankfurt (the largest international exhibition of home textile products) greatly appreciated the eco-friendly measures taken by Pakistan’s textile industry, according to a news source. As per the publication, the business fair lasted from January 7 to 10, and the country was lauded for its environmentally friendly textile industry.

Buyers from all over the world, particularly the United States (US) and Europe, expressed their interest in Pakistan’s textile industry. The Head of United Nations (UN) Office for Cooperation Lucie Brigham praised the Pakistani textile sector’s efforts to make manufacturing more environmentally friendly, particularly in the denim industry. She added that the textile industry played an important role in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and that this move towards eco-friendly measures would also help improve the country’s overall competitiveness in the international market.

Brigham also encouraged synergy between the public and private sectors of the country to ensure that this sustainability is developed further — for the benefit all the stakeholders involved.
