Islamabad: Advisor to the Prime Minister (PM) on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood recently stated that several international apparel brands had ‘shifted orders from China to Pakistan’, a news source reported on October 31.

‘I am happy to share the good news that more and more brands are shifting to Pakistan. We just heard that Hanes, Guess, Hugo Boss & Target have shifted orders from China to Pakistan,’ Dawood posted on his Twitter handle.
‘This is a good trend & I’m very hopeful that this will continue. I hope that the exporters will capitalize on this opportunity,’ he said in another tweet.
The adviser later stated that the Ministry of Commerce had organised a meeting of spinners and apparel manufacturers to review the stock and price of yarn; adding that the ministry was contemplating duty reduction on various yarn products in the wake of rising prices.

‘Apparel is the engine of growth in the textile sector and availability of yarn at competitive prices is the pillar of strength. All sectors have to play their respective roles to maximise overall exports,’ he further stated.
