Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Sunday announced that it had selected a consultant for the Ghazi-Barotha water supply project for Islamabad and Rawalpindi, a news source reported.

CDA officials revealed that the lowest bidder was selected for this mega project of obtaining water from Indus River to the twin cities. They further announced the development authority’s decision to commence with the land acquisition process for the project.
According to the details revealed, CDA proceeded ahead with the Ghazi-Barotha water supply project as per the instructions of the federal government. To hire consultancy services for the project, the authority invited proposals from both national and international companies. A committee selected the lowest bidder following the evaluation of the bids submitted.

The hired company will provide its consultancy services to develop a perennial source of potable water supply for Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The twin cities have faced serious water shortage issues for some time now.
