Under this project, a 45-kilometre long pipeline will be laid to channel water from Indus River to Ghazi Barotha and meet the water-related needs of the twin cities. Islamabad alone has a requirement of 220mgd of water but it only receives 60mgd and that too for its urban areas, while water supply arrangements in rural areas are realized through boring or other water schemes.
