Islamabad: Pakistan has proposed some top German companies to participate in CPEC by investing in the Special Economic Zones (SEZs), according to a news report. Zafar Hasan, Secretary Planning, Development, and Reform talked to a delegation from the economic leader of Europe.
This delegation was led by Jans Jokisch, Deputy Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan, and included leading business concerns of the country. Pakistan is aiming to kick-start four of its 9 SEZs as soon as possible to increase exports and close the widening trade deficit. The secretary stated that there were numerous areas where German companies could invest to the mutual benefit of both countries. He further added that CPEC operations were being expanded and there is no restriction on third-party participation in the SEZs and Export Promotion Zones (EPZs). A statement released by the ministry revealed that the delegation had expressed interest in potential economic cooperation between the two countries.
