Islamabad: The German Development Bank has signed an agreement with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to provide EUR 17.5 million for uplift projects over the next five years, according to a news story published in the leading newspaper on August 3.

As per the details, German Development Bank – also known as KfW Development Bank – Country Director Sebastian Jacobi and Economic Affairs Division Secretary Asad Hayauddin signed the agreement. As per the agreement, the funds will be provided for development projects including drinking water supply schemes and solid waste management infrastructure in the Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan districts of KP.

Moreover, the scope of KfW’s financial cooperation includes climate and energy, good governance, and sustainable economic development. It was disclosed that the German federal ministry for economic cooperation and development is providing funds for the project through KfW. The German federal ministry has invested EUR 400 in the province.
