Islamabad: Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed on Monday launched the Geographic Information System (GIS) for the National Highways Authority (NHA) — a news source reported.

Addressing the launch event, the minster stated that the GIS had been introduced in the NHA to optimize its revenues and bring greater transparency to the institution. He said that the system had allowed for the digitization of all the information regarding utilities and commercial amenities in the NHA network’s Right of Way (ROW).
Minister Saeed further said that the NHA, during the past two years, had managed to outperform its pervious accomplishments — with their performance improving by as much as 48.2% due to the development of an additional 546 kilometres worth of roads.

Speaking on the Sukkur-Hyderabad (M-6) Motorway, the minister stated that the project would bring development to interior Sindh. He added that the 306 kilometre motorway would be constructed on a build-operate-transfer basis, and that actual construction work in this regard would be initiated soon. He further said that after this section has been completed, people will be able to use the motorway to travel between Peshawar and Karachi.
