Lahore: The provincial government has decided to use geo-tagging for demarcation of municipal constituencies instead of using the services of patwaris as was previously done – a news source reported.
The Urban Unit will assist the Municipal department for this purpose. He said that the Municipal department is determined to begin the demarcation of constituencies under the Local Government Act 2019, in order to hold local elections within one year.

The Additional Municipal Secretary Shahid Zaman said that the neighbourhood and village councils will be announced by November 4.
He added that the regulation relating to the demarcation of constituencies is clear, and that census blocks cannot be broken down. He further said that technology is being used for this purpose now.
Additionally, the secretary said that the local government can play a significant role in the development of its constituencies, and that this is their main focus at the moment.
