Gujranwala: The Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) Enforcement Wing has razed the site offices of several illegal housing schemes and land subdivisions established in the district, a news source reported. This operation comes as part of the campaign launched against illegal housing developments and construction practices in the city.

Under this crackdown, the Enforcement Wing dealt with unapproved housings schemes in Ali Pur Chatta and Qila Deedar Singh, where the staff sealed and razed site offices of at least 8 illegal housing schemes and several land subdivisions.

The GDA has so far taken related actions against dozens of real estate developers found involved in carrying out the development work, selling plots and marketing their unapproved projects. Reportedly, the crackdown was launched on the instructions of GDA Chairman Amir Rehman and GDA Director General Shaukat Mehmood.

Sources within the GDA have affirmed that the operation against illegal housing schemes in the district will continue without any discrimination. The reports further claim that the public at large has appreciated the GDA’s effort to curb illegal practices in the real estate development sector and has requested the authority to continue with its operations.
