Gujranwala: The Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) officials have launched the operation against illegal housing schemes in their jurisdiction and have sent letters to various public departments to disconnect the utility connections provided to these illegal societies, news sources reported.

The said operation was carried out in the presence of Deputy Director Enforcement Arshad Waraich, Estate officer Mirza Babur, and Building Officer Hafiz Zohaib. The operation involved the removal of boundary walls and the uprooting of sewage system lines of various societies that had been built without permission from the authorities.
Furthermore, the authorities have said that the operation against unlawful and unregistered housing projects would be carried out impartially with the assistance of the district administration.

In this respect, letters have been written to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) requesting that current connections are to be disconnected and no new utility connections are to be provided to illegal housing schemes. According to the authorities, criminal proceedings have been filed against the proprietors of the unlawful housing schemes.
