Gujranwala: Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) has start its operation against illegal housing societies in the city, reported a news source. In the first phase of this drive, the authority sealed the society offices of five private housing schemes and razed roads in these projects.
The operation was announced a few days ago against the real estate developments that were selling plots to the public without having an NOC issued by the GDA. The operation was monitored by GDA Chairman Amir Rehman and GDA Director General Maqbool Ahmed Langha, and carried out under the supervision of GDA Town Planning Director Ijaz Akbar Bhatti.
The team deployed to carry out the operation demolished sewerage lines, roads and site offices of Miran Walay Town, Ashraf Town, Canal View Park and two more societies on Ali Pur Road. The GDA has also announced that developers breaching the law by trying to resell plots again will face legal charges.
Talking to the media, Bhatti said that operation against the housing societies operating against NOC will be carried out today as well. He also suggested the developers of private housings schemes to seek NOCs from the GDA to get their projects regularised.
