Gujranwala: The Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) has set up an information desk at its office to provide information on approved real estate projects in a bid to prevent buyers from investing in illegal residential societies and land subdivisions in the city, a news source reported on October 13.
According to GDA Director General (DG) Maqbool Ahmed, a comprehensive plan to launch a crackdown against all illegal housing schemes and land subdivision has already been prepared and GDA Encroachment Director Arshad Warraich has been tasked with leading the initiative.

According to reports, the development authority has also prepared a list of 252 illegal real estate projects. To execute the operation, 16 teams have been formed. These bodies will directly report to the GDA DG and will initiate legal action against the developers of illegal projects from October 16 onwards.
The GDA is actively following the cases where some real estate developers are reportedly developing housings schemes on peri-urban land without seeking approvals from the development authority. In order to warn people against investing in these projects, the GDA information desk will share the latest updates on whether or not the project developer has applied for an NOC.
