Gujranwala: The Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) has barred 18 housing societies within its jurisdiction from selling plots without obtaining no-objection certificates (NOCs); after they were found to be engaged in the practice – a news source reported on September 18. The authority has also issued a letter to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gujranwala Sohail Ashraf in a bid to ensure that no fard-e-malkiat and inteqal documents are issued to these societies.

According to details, the GDA had prepared a list of housing societies and land sub-divisions found to be engaged in selling plots without the requisite NOCs. GDA Director Town Planning Khurram Shahzad had forwarded this document to GDA Director General Maqbool Ahmad Majoka, who had then proceeded to send a summary of the same to the DC.

Speaking on the matter, Majoka stated that no residential scheme would be allowed to conduct illegal operations regardless of how influential its owners were; and further warned of taking indiscriminate action in such cases.
