Gujranwala: The Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) recently decided to auction the plots of eight housing societies found in violation of its building bylaws, neglected development, and failure to provide any amenities or utilities to their residents — a news source reported.

According to the details available, it is mandatory under the GDA’s bylaws for housing societies to submit designs for roads, a sewerage system, a water supply system and footpaths, among other things, when filing for an approval from the development authority. However, there are 8 societies in Gujranwala that haven’t submitted these designs, despite having been approved years ago.
As a result, the GDA Director Engineering decided to seize and then auction plots within these housing societies — with Director Town Planning Khurram Shahzad having been tasked with carrying out this assignment.

The operation is part of the GDA’s campaign under the direction of its Director General Naseem Javed to investigate and take action against housing societies that don’t develop or provide facilities to its residents, as per their maps and advertisements.
