Islamabad: The Planning and Development (P&D) Minister Makhdum Khusro Bakhtiar chaired a meeting, and was informed that Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), headed by the chief minister of Balochistan, has approved the Gwadar City Master Plan, with a few adjustments.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Dr Mohmmad Jehanzeb Khan, Secretary Planning Zafar Hasan, Chinese representatives, and other senior officials from relevant departments.
The P&D minister and Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing lauded the Eastbay Expressway project’s pace. Other projects currently ongoing in Gwadar were also discussed.

The meeting reviewed the progress on China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC), and emphasized the need for faster momentum to complete relevant projects on time.
Minister P&D remarked that the government has expanded the scope of CPEC to other priority concerns like socio-economic development and poverty alleviation through industrial and agricultural cooperation. In response, the Chinese ambassador confirmed that the CPEC was headed in the right direction.

The meeting scrutinized CPEC projects closely and at length. National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) assured the meeting that tariff issues regarding Port Qasim and 300 megawatts (MW) coal project in Gwadar will be resolved soon.
