Gujrat: The Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has submitted a proposal to the Punjab government for the construction of a 16-kilometre long link road that will connect Gujrat to Sialkot-Lahore Motorway (M-11), according to news published on Friday (October 1).

As per the details, the link road from the industrial city is to be developed on a public-private partnership (PPP) project. GCCI President Umar Ashraf Mughal revealed that the local business community will provide PKR 6 billion for the construction of a dual carriageway whereas the government will provide land for the project, at the estimated cost of PKR 900 million.

Furthermore, it was informed that departments of Communication and Works (C&W) and Planning and Development (P&D) were also sent copies of unsolicited proposals of the project. It was reported that under PPP mode, the investor company may have the commercial rights of the project, which also includes toll collection for at least 27 to 30 years.
