Gilgit: The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government has formulated a comprehensive strategy aimed at mitigating the growing environmental concerns that pose a threat to the region’s tourist attractions, according to news published in the national dailies on August 22.

According to the press release, this innovative policy is set to play a pivotal role in tackling the pressing environmental issues prevalent in areas frequently visited by tourists. Central to this policy is a series of meticulous guidelines governing the development of tourist infrastructure within ecologically sensitive and crucial regions. These regions, already burdened by the impacts of climate change and rapid development, require special attention to ensure their sustained protection.

Moreover, the guidelines have received the green light from the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Business and it will be presented in the cabinet meeting for final approval. The government has strategically planned the creation of eco-friendly tourist attractions through the meticulous master planning of ecologically sensitive and vital zones.
