Gilgit: The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government presented its budget for the fiscal year (FY) 2020-21 with a total outlay of over PKR 68 billion, during the GB Assembly on Friday, according to news sources.

Initially, the GB budget session was scheduled for Thursday, but it was postponed due to the demise of a minister. The Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs Aurangzeb Khan presented this year’s budget in the provincial assembly. Therein, he announced an increase of 15% in the government employees’ salary for Grades 1-16 and a 10% increase for Grade 17 and above.
As per the details of the budget proposal, PKR 6 billion has been allocated to offer subsidies on wheat and PKR 1.8 billion has been allocated for the transportation sector.

This is the last budget for the incumbent GB government, as its tenure is going to finish on June 24. Afterwards, member of the assembly (both opposition and treasury) made speeches and paid tribute to the deceased minister for his political and social contributions.
