Babusar: The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government on Sunday (July 3) opened the old Bungalow Babusar Track near Babusar Top in the Diamer district, news sources reported. The 3-kilometre-long track has been restored for the first time since 1960.

Reportedly, the new route will connect the River Kunhar with the River Indus and will have local shops, hotels, and restaurants along the route. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Diamer Fayyaz Ahmed and the local elders. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr Ahmed said that the opening of the Bungalow Babusar Track will allow tourists to visit Babusar’s historic APA House, Old Bungalow Bazaar, and other tourist attractions in the area. This will also improve the socio-economic conditions of the area as more and more tourists will visit the area.
Furthermore, he stated that Babusar is a popular tourist site, with a huge number of visitors and citizens passing through it every day. The opening of a new route will enhance tourism even more. He stated that current tourism growth is part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and GB government’s vision to boost the tourism industry and improve infrastructure.

It is also worth noting that the federal government has begun a tunnel project to connect KP and GB during the winter season to further facilitate travellers and tourists.
