Gilgit Baltistan: The Gilgit Baltistan (GB) government has unveiled its budget for the fiscal year 2023-24, amounting to PKR 116.15 billion, according to news published on June 26. The budget proposals were approved during a cabinet meeting in Gilgit, chaired by Chief Minister (CM) Khalid Khurshid.

Presented by GB Finance Minister Javed Ali Manwa, the budget allocates PKR 74 billion for non-developmental expenditures and PKR 28.45 billion for development expenditures. Furthermore, PKR 13.70 billion has been proposed for wheat subsidies.
The GB govt unveils budget 2023-24, in which salary increases for government employees were announced, with a 35% raise for employees up to grade 16 and a 30% increase for employees in grades 17 to 22. The health sector is set to receive over PKR 1.37 billion for improvements, while more than PKR 1.57 billion has been allocated for education.
Other allocations include PKR 450 million for agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries, PKR 4.17 billion for the power sector, and over PKR 240 million for irrigation. The physical planning and housing sector will receive PKR 1.33 billion, the communication system will be allocated PKR 3.46 billion, and the information technology (IT) sector will receive PKR 280 million.
