Islamabad: China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Chairman Lt. Gen. (R) Asim Saleem Bajwa, who is currently on a visit to Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), said in a tweet on July 22 that the connectivity of the region with the rest of the country will be enhanced under the CPEC initiatives.
Bajwa discussed the potential of the northern areas and ways to unlock it in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran with the G-B Chief Minister Khurshid. The two discussed various projects falling under the CPEC developments. As per his tweet, the sectors which will be under the development focus has already been identified. These include integrated tourism, infrastructure upgradation (including development of roads and airport facilities), fishery and agriculture, power, and enhancing connectivity.

In a tweet earlier shared on the same day, the chairman shared pictures of his meetings with the local farmers engaged in agriculture, fishery and livestock businesses in areas falling close to the Khunjrab Bypass, saying that the potential of these sectors will be explored under the CPEC. He also said that the challenges faced by the farmers engaged in these sectors will be addressed.
