Gilgit: The Gilgit-Baltistan government presented its budget for 2018-19 of PKR 63.64 billion on Thursday, according to a news source. In this budget, PKR 31.64 billion was allocated for non-development schemes and PKR 32.26 billion was allocated for development schemes.
This budget was presented by Senior Minister Akbar Taban and marked an 11 % increase over last year’s budget of PKR 54 billion. He stated that the Public Sector Development Programme had an outlay of more than PKR 7.9 billion, and PKR 6.59 billion would be allocated for education. Funds have been set aside for the construction of new school buildings, provision of necessary facilities, and new equipment in schools. PKR 4.23 billion have been allocated to health for the establishment of health centres and new machinery. In addition, PKR 2.03 billion will be used to boost the tourism industry, and PKR 2.73 billion for power generation.
