Gilgit: The Gilgit-Baltistan government has presented a budget amounting to PKR 1.402 trillion, as reported on June 25.

According to the details, the development budget includes PKR 20 billion for the annual development programme and PKR 13.5 billion for the federal government projects. In his address to the provincial assembly Minister Ismail detailed the budget allocations PKR 86.6 billion for non-development expenditures and PKR 34.5 billion for development projects The budget includes a substantial PKR 19.07 billion subsidy for wheat aimed at alleviating financial burdens.

Sector-wise allocations for FY25 were also outlined:
– Education: PKR 1.37 billion
– Health: PKR 1.52 billion
– Agriculture: PKR 597.9 million
– Food: PKR 998 million
– Mineral Resources: PKR 110 million
Additionally, significant amounts were allocated to departments critical for infrastructure and social development:
– Irrigation: PKR 1.728 billion
– Forestry and Environment: PKR 1.524 billion
– Rural Development: PKR 1.19 billion
– Information Technology: PKR 1.316 billion
– Technical Education: PKR 7.763 billion
– Social Welfare: PKR 3.632 billion
– Power: PKR 2.88 billion
– Communication: PKR 5.63 billion
– Information: PKR 41.4 million
– Prison: PKR 536.8 million
– Law: PKR 192.6 million
– Excise and Taxation: PKR 57.4 million

Minister Ismail concluded by announcing a 25% increase in salaries for grade 1-16 government employees and a 20% increase for grade 18 and above, demonstrating the government’s commitment to bolstering public sector remuneration and advancing federal projects in Gilgit-Baltistan.
