Peshawar: Construction work on a major pipeline gas project has begun in Peshawar to overcome the low pressure and shortage of natural gas, a news source reported. Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited is the executing agency of the project.
The project, which would be constructed at a cost of PKR 150 million, was inaugurated at Tarnab feeding station near GT Road in Peshawar. The eight-kilometre-long and 12-inch-wide pipeline would be laid on the main GT Road.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had earlier presented a special package for Peshawar, which was approved by the cabinet. Plans are also underway plans for digital transformation of the province, and as many as five cities or municipalities will be turned into smart cities in the next five years.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Kamran Khan Bangash said the local government minister recently launched a smart cities wing at his department, adding that the government was planning to hold a smart cities conference next year.
