Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved the provision of gas connections for 25,000 houses in the province, a news source quoted Adviser to the Chief Minister (CM) on Energy and Power Himayatullah Khan as saying. The project is estimated to cost PKR 2.5 billion, out of which the provincial executive will provide PKR 950 million.

The advisor, during a press briefing, stated said that the KP government is keen on attending to gas-supply issues in areas deprived of the said utility. Out of the estimated expense required to complete the project, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd has also extended financial aid of PKR 1.55 billion.

Under this project, gas supplies will be arranged for regions from where gas is extracted. These include Kohat, Karach and Hangu. In addition to providing gas connections to new districts in the province, the provincial government will also provide gas connections to the oil and gas filed setups in the region. This promises annual revenue of billions of rupee in terms of royalty fee.
