The garbage stations scheme is included in the 2018-19 annual development programme (ADP). It requires a follow-up from the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB). ADP 2018-19 also includes recommendations for the development and transformation of landfill sites to meet international standards. The commission instructed that SSWMB must complete the waste-to-energy projects through ADP schemes within the current fiscal year.

The commission also reported that a water distribution and sanitation master plan is required for meeting Karachi’s existing and future water needs. The report suggests that the government should present a phased plan for rehabilitation of existing water supply schemes in the next three months. Additionally, the commission suggested assigning the rehabilitation and monitoring work of existing filtration plants to Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources.
The commission was established in January 2018 and will complete its tenure on January 15, 2019. Its recommendations are based on the suggestions of various government agencies, departments, and officials.
