Murree: The Galiyat Development Authority has allowed tourists to visit the Galiyat region to enjoy the snowfall season, effectively resuming tourism in the region, news sources reported on January 19. The GDA and district administration allowed tourists vehicles in the region following the improvement of weather conditions.

As per the GDA spokesperson, the Meteorological Office has forecast another spell of snowfall in Galiyat from Wednesday. The administration has decided to restrict some areas and the movement of tourists within a 25km area between Bagnotar and Dongagali over fears of landslides and avalanches. Tourists will be permitted to approach the Galiyat region through the Abbottabad-Nathiagali Road, but access to places beyond Donga Gali to Bariyan would be limited. Meanwhile, the Punjab Home Department has authorised the subdivision of Rawalpindi’s Saddar division into subdivisions with as many police stations in Murree as there are in Rawalpindi.

Following clearance, a new divisional superintendent of police (SP) (BS-18) position would be formed in Murree to ensure the presence of 18 ranking police officers in the most frequented hill station. Similarly, three police stations would be established in Murree to maintain peace and order.
