Lahore: The Excise & Taxation Department has sealed Gaddafi Stadium for nonpayment of property tax. According to tax authorities, Rs 50,000,000 property tax is due to be paid by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Reportedly, PCB offices will remain sealed until the tax has been paid.
PCB claims that the property tax cannot be levied on any approved stadium according to law and it intends to make its plan of action after receiving a written notice on the matter from the court.
The Lahore High Court had previously ordered the PCB to pay property tax, stating that Gaddafi Stadium was not a public park which was exempt from property tax.
