The residents of Sector G-11 showed concerns over contaminated water supply in the area and decaying water pipelines. Due to decaying water pipelines, drinking water is being contaminated by sewerage water and causing various diseases in the area.
The residents are forced to consume contaminated water that is not fit for human use. It is apparent that drinking water is being contaminated by sewerage water at some points and is polluting clean water. Upon receiving complaints, CDA has dug up a few places to identify the problem but stopped the work midway without even solving the problem.
Residents have asked the CDA chairman to personally look into the matter and direct employees for particular action. At the same time, a few areas of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board are reported not to have water due to some development work that damaged water pipelines of lane 6 & 7. Upon contacting, Engineer Water Attiq Chaudhry said that construction work on Peshawar Road was started without transferring utility services so the adjacent areas are facing this issue.
The residents have demanded the RCB to ensure that this issue will be addressed as soon as possible since it is simply impossible to do without water during summers.
