Islamabad: Pakistan has achieved a Balance of Payment (BOP) surplus of more than 43% with Bangladesh during the fiscal year 2021-22 (FY22), news sources reported on August 11. During that period, Pakistan exported goods worth USD 870.604 million and imported goods worth USD 97.5 million to Bangladesh.

According to data issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Pakistan’s export volume to Bangladesh increased year-on-year (YoY) when compared with exports of USD 616.202 million from July-June (2020-21). On the other hand, imports from Bangladesh also grew by 363.95%, from USD 3.082 million in FY21 to USD 14.299 million in FY22. Similarly, exports during June 2022 increased by 35.11% compared to June 2021, from USD 64.490 million to USD 87.135 million, while exports climbed by 39.15% in June 2022 compared to May 2022 exports of USD 62.615 million.

It is important to note that Pakistan’s total export volume during FY22 also witnessed a 26.56% growth, with the country hitting a record high export of USD 32.450 billion.
