The FWO stated in a video update that construction on the 3.5 marlas low-cost housing project on Raiwind Road is progressing quickly, with completion expected within the time frame specified. According to the latest information, the houses’ block masonry is underway, while roof slab construction is also taking place along with the outer walls. In addition, it was announced that the Punjab government intends to extend the peri-urban housing project to 135 sites in 35 districts across the province as part of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP). Under the finalised project, the Board of Revenue Punjab will provide land for the project.
Each peri-urban housing development will have between 100 and 500 low-cost dwellings. The FWO has recently won the contract for PKR 22.8 billion Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR). The flagship project has been in the works for a long time and is expected to be completed within two years. The FWO secured the contract by bidding PKR 300 million less than the cited price. The organisation is also working on the foundation of an overhead water tank project in Raiwind.
