Islamabad: The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) has launched construction work on Margalla Road – after the federal cabinet approved for the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to engage their services for the said project, according to news sources. The groundbreaking of this project was performed by Prime Minister Imran Khan last month.

CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed has also informed that the FWO will execute the construction on the 35-kilometre long Margalla Road (from GT Road near Sangjani to Bara Kahu) in two phases. In the first phase, construction work will be carried out from Sangjani to D-12 and then from the edge of Constitution Avenue to Satra Meel after bypassing Bhara Kahu. In addition to this, the Khayaban-e-Iqbal road from D-12 to Constitution Avenue will serve as a linkage between both the northern and eastern parts of the Margalla Road.

Moreover, sources in the CDA have informed that construction work on the northern side near Sangjani will be completed within a year.
In a similar development, the authority has expressed its inclination to execute two more projects; the 10th Avenue and expansion and rehabilitation of I.J.P Road done on a single tender basis through the FWO, provided that it get the federal cabinet’s approval.
