Rawalpindi: The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) is likely to get contract for the reconstruction of the Soan Bridge this month, according to news published on August 4.

According to an official of the National Highways Authority (NHA) (whose name was not disclosed), the previous contract of the project was terminated due to several reasons. It was mentioned that a new contract will be awarded to the FWO and will be given one year to complete the project with a 6-month extension. Additionally, it was stated that the work on the Soan Bridge cannot be started in the next two months due to flooding and monsoon.

Moreover, it was highlighted that the said road is used by hundreds of people throughout the day and has to face several problems including traffic congestion and being stranded on the bridge for hours. It is pertinent to note that the remodelling of the bridge on the Soan River was started in 2017 and was scheduled to be completed by January 2022. Now, FWO will complete the remaining work on the project.
