Lahore: The Punjab government is eager to complete 31 development schemes by June 30 – a news source reported.
The authorities concerned have sanctioned the release of funds worth PKR 9.9 billion. These funds will be utilised to develop at least 1,742 water projects.

At least 50% of the said amount will be utilised to provide clean drinking water in rural areas. The government will spend PKR 5 billion on water-related projects in arid regions across the province.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has asked the provincial government to clarify its stance with regard to the formation of a water commission. To this effect, LHC Justice Kareem issued a notice to the authorities concerned. He also sought a written reply from the provincial government on the matter.
