Multan: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has asked the Punjab government to release more funds for the infrastructural up-gradation of Multan, a news source reported. During a meeting held to conduct the performance review of various government departments, Qureshi said that the incumbent government believed that abiding by the dictates of transparency and merit constituted the way for eradicating corruption from Pakistan.

The foreign minister also issued directives to the officers of the Waste Management Company to meet the shortage of sanitary workers, and to equip them with the machinery required. He instructed them to ensure cleanliness throughout the city.
Noting that 35% of the city’s area did not have access to proper sewerage arrangements, Qureshi asked the officials concerned to upgrade the disposal system as soon as possible. He further directed the authorities concerned to begin an operation against WASA defaulters to recover pending dues worth PKR 1.25 billion.

At the same time, he called on local parliamentarians to raise their voices in the assembly for addressing the problems of the people of Multan. He added that the political leadership was standing by the district administration to ensure progress and prosperity in the city.
