Karachi: The President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) Ahmed Khan has applied to the local government to release special funds at the earliest, and issued directions to initiate the repair, rehabilitation and patchwork of all the dilapidated roads in the city, according to news sources.

The roads in Karachi are in bad shape after the recent spell of heavy rainfall. The president of KCCI lauded the Sindh government’s vigilance over the cleanliness and sanitation situation, and asked for equal attention to the affected road infrastructure that’s making travel difficult with each passing day. The business and industrial community also suffer by delays caused by the poor condition of the roads.

Additionally, Ahmed Khan stressed the need for high-quality construction materials to be used for the rehabilitation of these roads, so they are able to endure harsh weather conditions. He also called for better planning for these road and sewerage installations in industrial zones, in order to avoid damaging them due to the movement of heavy vehicles. He added that the industrial zones had been affected in the worst manner by the recent rain spells, particularly the Site Industrial area.
