Speaking to the media, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Saif Anwar Jappa said that work on these projects will begin soon after consultation with stakeholders. He said that the projects are focused on reducing traffic congestion problems in the city as well as pollution. He highlighted that the RRR project will not only serve as an alternate route for traffic but a special industrial zone will be built along the route to facilitate industrialization. RDA Chairman Jappa also confirmed that the government will seek help from international firms for the RRR project’s third-party evaluation, for which advertisements have been published in international newspapers. However, the Kutchery Chowk remodelling project will be carried out by the Frontier Works Organization (FWO).

It is important to note that the Rawalpindi Ring Road project was launched in 2021, but was later halted owing to procedural changes in the technical evaluation. The government now expects to complete third-party validation of the Ring Road route by the end of March.
