Karachi: City Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced that the Sindh government has released PRK 1.5 billion for the repair of roads in the route of Peoples Bus Service, according to news published in the national dailies on August 21.

As per the details, the seven routes where Peoples Bus Service operate will be repaired in the first phase. After the repair of those roads, the rehabilitation of other roads will be started. The city administrator mentioned that the tendering process for awarding the contracts for road repairs will be initiated soon.
The administrator mentioned that under the development scheme, the construction and repair of Miran Shah Road, Chakiwara Road, Sher Shah Road, and 31 other roads in the Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE) area, a road in Federal B Area, Shahrah-i-Noor Jahan in district central, the roads around Jinnah and Civil hospitals, and the main road of Orangi Town will be included.
Moreover, Administrator Wahab mentioned that a flyover in Gulistan-e-Johar will be developed at the cost of PKR 2 billion. Under the said project, a six-lane bridge will be constructed to resolve the traffic woes of the people of Korangi.

He revealed that 157 development schemes for Karachi have been approved at the accumulated cost of PKR 18 billion. Out of the total, 146 schemes will be executed under the Annual Development Programme (ADP). So far, PKR 12 billion has been released for these schemes.
