Multan: Commissioner Iftikhar Ali Sahu on Friday said that the Punjab government had released PKR 400 million for the up-gradation of the sewerage system in the city, a news source reported. To facilitate this measure, the executive has directed the Water And Sanitation Agency (WASA) to conduct a proper survey to identify the flaws in the sewerage system.
He expressed his views on the matter during a press briefing. Previously, the minister had presided over a meeting to review progress on various development schemes. Director Development Waqas Khan Khakwani, ADCR Agha Zaheer Abbas Sherazi, WASA MD Rao Qasim, and other concerned officials were all present at the occasion.

He said that Chief Minister Usman Buzdar was aware of the sanitation and other challenges faced by the city and was taking measures to overcome these issues. He stated that the government had allocated PKR 1.477 billion for various development projects of WASA; adding that PKR 400 million from this sum have already been released.

The commissioner affirmed that the provincial government was geared towards making improvements to the sewerage system. He revealed that he had been tasked by the government to come up with an efficient technical plan to resolve the woes of the city.
