Sukkur: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the federal government will provide PKR 15 billion grant to overcome the post-monsoon crisis in Sindh, according to news published on August 27.

As per the details, the premier took an aerial view of inundated areas in Rohri, Thari Mir Wah, Kot Diji, Khairpur, Sukkur, and Faiz Ganj and expressed concern over the loss of lives and widespread destruction of infrastructure caused by the flash floods and heavy rainfall. The minister stated that the grant will help the provincial government carry out rehabilitation and relief operations in the province. He added that the collective efforts of coalition government will be required to alleviate the suffering of rain affectees.
Moreover, PM Shehbaz also announced the distribution of PKR 25,000 per household under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). He further added that PKR 28 billion support will be provided to the rain-affected people within a week. The minister also mentioned that the flooded grid stations will be switched on after taking necessary measures.

During the visit, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) briefed the minister about the ongoing relief operation and rehabilitation of the infrastructure in the flood-stricken areas. He was notified that 43 relief camps have been set up in Sindh where people are provided medicines and food.
