Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday (September 22) ordered timely issuance of funds for the construction of quality highways for better connectivity, employment, and trade opportunities for urban and rural areas, according to news sources.

PM Khan chaired a review meeting to check the progress of National Highway Authority (NHA) projects. The PM stated that the roads have a key role to play in economic development. He went on to say that quality roads will decrease the cost incurred on the import of petroleum products and vehicle maintenance.
Sharing details about completed roads, Federal Minister Murad Saeed mentioned that in three years, a total of 1,753 kilometres of roads were completed. It was disclosed that more than 3,000 kilometres long roads were constructed in Balochistan. The attendees were also informed that NHA plans to complete 27 projects during this fiscal year.

The meeting was attended by NHA Chairman Captain (retired) Muhammad Khurram Agha, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Jahanzeb Khan, Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed, Special Assistant Dr Shahbaz Gill, and other senior officials.
