Rawalpindi: Under the Punjab Budget 2020-21 unveiled on June 15, the provincial government has allocated a total sum of PKR 20.46 million for the rehabilitation of the Rohtas Fort and three other historical sites, a news source reported. The projects’ restoration work is already underway.

As per details, the Punjab government will continue with the restoration work to rehabilitate Taxila Museum and Wah Cantt, the historical sites located between Taxila and Swat, and the restoration of the Rohtas Fort as per the master plan.
According to the details shared by the authorities concerned, a sum of PKR 310.36 million has already been spent on the rehabilitation of these projects in the past. While the government has allocated PKR 20.46 million in (Fiscal Year) FY2020-21, it will issue PKR 30.10 million in FY2021-22, and another PKR 20.66 million in FY2022-23.

The provincial government also reserved PKR 400 million for promotion of local tourism. These funds will be spent on the development of a resort facility at Soon Valley, Attock, and Nankana Sahib; upgradation of Patriata; and the development of Resort Charehan during FY2020-21.
