Lahore: The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved PKR 3.4 billion for development of road infrastructure in Lahore Faisalabad, Jaranwala and Sheikhupura, news sources reported. The projects were approved during the 57th meeting of the party held on Wednesday (January 26).

The meeting was presided over by Chairman Planning & Development Board Abdullah Khan Sumbal. All members of the party, provincial secretaries of the concerned departments, and other senior leaders of the relevant provincial ministries were present in this meeting.
As per the reports, funds for the following four projects that have been approved:
- PKR 1.548 billion for construction of Underpass at Samanabad Morr, Multan Road.
- PKR 777.3 million for the rehabilitation of Jaranwala – Faisalabad Road
- PKR 740.5 million for the improvement of Lahore-Jaranwala Road from Saggian Bypass to Begum Kot
- PKR 381.7 million for construction of metalled road from Sheikhupura Interchange (M-2) to Qaap along the motorway

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) recently sent the Project Concept-1 (PC-1) of the 500-meter-long, dual-height Samanabad Underpass to provincial government. The project has been in the works for nearly a decade, and the government has recently decided to revive it in order to address the city’s growing traffic concerns.
